UAlbany Rugby opened the 2007 NYSRC League schedule with a 20- 5 winover Plattsburgh. Albany played a solid game after a poorperformance vs Syracuse U [25-0] at home in a out of conference game last Saturday. Albany's pack showed signs of last year"s formtaking all 10 of their own scrums and kept Plattsburgh uncomfortablein their own. Freshman winger Jake Touhey (played for RockawayRugby Club) led off the scoring with a plunge in the corner off of ruck ball. Forwards Phil Iulluicci, Casey Leahey and James Wrynn provided additional scores. Senior Kevin Ryan (Long Island RFC) added one conversion and was 1 of 3 on penalty attempts.
Albany's second XV lost a tough one against Plattsburgh's seconds, which was filled in by many recent ualbany rfc grads.
